Essay On Why People Shouldnt Smoke

Why People Shouldn’t Smoke Cigarettes Essay

There are millions of smokers in the United States. The age ranges from eight to a hundred years old. So many people that smoke do not know how harmful smoking is for an individual. They just smoke and keep on smoking. Some smokers smoke multiple packs of cigarettes a day. There are many reasons not to smoke. Smoking is harmful to the person that is doing it. It is also harmful to the people that are around the individual that is smoking. Smoking also plays a big part in the pollution of the earth. Some smokers started out very young and others didn't start smoking until they were a little bit older. It is one of the most addictive, expensive, and fatal habits in society today. People do it for many different reasons. Some do it because it calms them down. Others might do it because they think it looks cool when they do it. Another reason why people do it is because they got hooked after the first one and they couldn't quit after that. A lot of children are starting to smoke at a younger age than in the past. It seems as though each year the average age to start smoking becomes younger and younger. This is very bad because young kids don't actually understand what the harmful side effects of smoking are. That's why it is a good idea to educate kids at a young age to help to prevent them from smoking anytime in their life. The more people know about certain subjects the better off they are from having complications with certain situations. D.A.R.E (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) is a good program that teaches young kids about smoking, doing drugs and drinking. This program can only better educate people about things that they thought they knew or didn't know at all.
